Profile
Trestle redefines the fine dining experience in San Francisco, not merely through its exceptional cuisine but by weaving an atmosphere that invites guests to savor each moment. Upon entering, we were immediately enveloped by the warmth of the space—a harmonious blend of soft lighting and rich wooden accents that exuded an intimate charm. The subtle hum of conversation created a melodic backdrop, punctuated by the occasional clink of glassware, setting the stage for an evening that felt both special and comfortably familiar. As we approached the host stand, the welcoming demeanor of the staff immediately set a positive tone. They seemed genuinely invested in making our experience memorable, offering us a choice of seating that allowed us to enjoy the restaurant’s cozy ambiance while still being part of the lively energy around us.
We chose a table by the window, where the soft glow from the streetlights outside filtered in, creating a picturesque atmosphere as dusk settled in. The prix fixe menu, an enticing showcase of seasonal ingredients, offered a delightful four-course experience priced at a remarkably reasonable $52. Each dish was a testament to the chefs’ meticulous attention to detail and respect for local produce. A standout moment for us was the first course—a vibrant heirloom tomato salad, artfully arranged with creamy burrata and drizzled with a fragrant basil oil. The freshness of the tomatoes sang of summer, a refreshing prelude to the meal that would unfold. As we progressed through the menu, the pacing felt effortlessly orchestrated, allowing us ample time to relish each course while maintaining a sense of anticipation.
The main dish—a perfectly seared duck breast—arrived with a crisp skin that crackled invitingly, complemented by a sweet cherry reduction that provided a lovely balance. It was clear that the kitchen’s philosophy centers on crafting a “proper meal,” a notion that resonated through each thoughtfully composed plate. Throughout the evening, the service remained attentive yet unobtrusive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and eager to share the stories behind each dish, enhancing our appreciation for the culinary artistry at play. With each course, we found ourselves drawn deeper into the rhythm of the restaurant, where time seemed to stand still in the best possible way. As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere shifted beautifully, echoing the transition from day to night. The soft music in the background provided a soothing complement to the gentle bustle of the dining tables, allowing us to engage in heartfelt conversation while enjoying our meal. Our concierge recommends reserving a table near the window for an enchanting view of the street below, especially as the city lights begin to twinkle at twilight. This vantage point not only enhances the experience but also encapsulates the essence of dining at Trestle—a celebration of flavorful fare in a setting that feels like home.

I really enjoyed my experience here! And not to mention that the service was truly exceptional. If you are looking for an intimate, cozy vibe with high quality food and service. Look no further!
With 4-courses you might not think it’s enough but I’ll let you know that by the time I reached the end of the second course, I was getting full! Granted, I probably eat less than the normal adult, but by no means was the amount little.
I won’t comment on the specific courses because the courses vary every week based on seasonality. Just know that everything was delicious, flavourful and leaves you with a satisfying feeling. The only course that left me a little disappointed and wanting more was the dessert! It really didn’t have the pizzaz that the other courses did.
If I lived in the area, I would be checking the menu weekly to see if there was something different I wanted and go there for a new food experience every time.
The food presentation and quality are amazing for the price you pay! Having two options for each course is also quite wonderful. If you come as a team of two, ordering both dishes for each course and sharing is a great idea! You get to taste everything and miss out on nothing.
I was a last minute reservation but they managed to squeeze me in and they were flexible! I was only a table of one, so that may have made it a little easier.
We ordered one of each option for all four courses and were impressed. The Red Wine Risotto with braised beef and Roasted Sunchoke soup were definitely favorites. The Cacio e Pepe Spaghetti was solid but nothing special.
We were surprisingly full going into the third and fourth courses so although they offer complimentary bread, consume it with caution. Note that there is an automatic 20% service charge.
