Profile
The allure of Piccolo Forno begins even before you enter, where the gentle smoke of wood-fired pizzas mingles with the heady scent of fresh basil and garlic, creating an aromatic invitation that is impossible to resist. As we approached the charming façade, the lively chatter of diners spilled out onto the sidewalk, a prelude to the culinary intimacy that awaited us inside. This authenticity, reminiscent of a bustling trattoria in Italy, immediately set the stage for an evening steeped in genuine warmth and unabashed flavor. Inside, the ambiance is a harmonious blend of rustic and contemporary elements. Wooden beams stretch across the ceiling, while the walls, adorned with eclectic artwork and vintage Italian posters, evoke a sense of nostalgia. The soft glow of pendant lights casts a romantic hue, inviting guests to linger over their meals.
We settled into a cozy corner table, where the rhythm of the tables began to unfold—the clinking of glasses, the sizzle of pizzas emerging from the oven, and the laughter of friends sharing stories over shared plates. The service at Piccolo Forno matches the inviting atmosphere, characterized by a genuine enthusiasm for the menu. Our server, well-versed in the offerings, guided us through a selection of the evening’s highlights. We began with the signature pepperoni pizza, a masterpiece featuring a perfectly charred crust that was both crisp and chewy, layered with a bright tomato sauce and generous slices of spicy pepperoni. Each bite was a testament to the kitchen’s commitment to simplicity and quality, allowing the ingredients to shine without pretense.
As we savored our pizza, we couldn’t resist the allure of the homemade tiramisu, a delicate balance of rich mascarpone and espresso-soaked ladyfingers that danced on the palate, leaving us in a state of blissful contentment. Throughout our meal, the energy in the restaurant shifted seamlessly from the buzz of early diners to the intimate conversations of couples enjoying a late-night escape. The kitchen, a focal point of this culinary theater, operates with an effortless choreography—dough is kneaded with care, pizzas slide into the roaring oven, and plates are artfully arranged before the eager hands of servers. The wine list, carefully curated, complements the menu with selections that range from crisp whites to robust reds, each choice echoing the rustic notes of Italian vineyards. As the evening drew to a close, the enchanting atmosphere lingered, leaving us wishing for just a few more moments to soak it all in. Our concierge recommends arriving a bit before the dinner rush to secure a seat on the patio—a delightful spot for people-watching while enjoying a refreshing spritz as the world of North Beach unfolds around you.

My wife has a pine nut allergy and they were confident in making sure she didn’t get cross contamination.
We got pepperoni pizza, dough is amazing. Pizza sauce is top notch. Lasagna was so good. The bolognese was what dreams are made of.
Food was excellent service equally matched. Will totally visit again.
