Profile
The moment we crossed the threshold into Il Nido, a warm embrace of freshly baked focaccia enveloped us, its golden crust crackling softly under the weight of herb-infused olive oil. As the sun dipped toward the horizon, golden rays filtered through the restaurant’s large windows, casting a soft glow across the rustic wooden tables and terracotta walls, which seemed to hum with the laughter and conversation of fellow diners. The energy felt both vibrant and intimate, a delicate balance that invited lingering. The host greeted us with genuine warmth, guiding us to a cozy corner table that offered a view of the bustling open kitchen—a theatrical performance of culinary artistry. Throughout the evening, the hum of the wood-fired oven punctuated the air, mingling with the sound of clinking glasses and the gentle strains of Italian ballads that floated through the space, adding to the ambiance.
We couldn’t help but observe the rhythm of service, which was attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing us to savor each moment without feeling rushed. As we settled in, the Antipasti Hour commenced, and we were delighted to sample the schiacciata, a beautifully airy flatbread that paired exquisitely with the house-made spreads. The polenta, a shining star on the menu, arrived in a warm bowl, its creamy texture comforting and rich, as though it had been lovingly prepared for hours. Each bite was reminiscent of childhood gatherings, where food was not just sustenance but a shared experience.
When the full dinner menu unfolded, we were torn between the house-made pastas and the enticing meat dishes. The cap ribeye, seasoned with a thoughtful touch, arrived cooked to perfection, its juices pooling on the plate like a well-composed painting. Each dish was a testament to the kitchen’s philosophy of honoring seasonal ingredients—something that resonated deeply with us. We found ourselves captivated by the wine pairing suggestions; the sommelier possessed a remarkable ability to connect each glass with the essence of the dishes, enhancing our dining experience with nuanced flavors. As the evening deepened, we observed the space transform. The golden light gave way to a soft, romantic glow, and the chatter of diners felt more intimate, creating a cocoon of warmth around us. Dessert was a celebration of sweet indulgence; the limoncello panna cotta was a refreshing finish, its citrus notes brightening the palate after the rich courses. Our concierge recommends making a reservation for the Antipasti Hour, where you can enjoy the delightful schiacciata and a selection of small bites that truly showcase the kitchen’s talent. If you can, secure a table near the kitchen to soak in the lively atmosphere and watch the culinary magic unfold.

Every dish was impressive, but the polenta and house bread (schiacciata) completely stole the show — both were warm, comforting, and perfectly textured. The polenta was so buttery and creamy it almost melted in your mouth, and the schiacciata had that ideal crisp edge with a soft, fluffy center.
We tried several pastas — tagliatelle, fazzo lobster mushroom pasta, and gnocchi malfettati — and each one was exceptional in its own way. The flavors were deep and nuanced, and the textures were spot on. Everyone at the table had their own favorite, which says a lot about how consistently good everything was.
Other standouts were the black cod with celery and pear, shishitos, and torta di ricotta e plum for dessert — light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal.
Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt cozy yet refined. Easily one of my favorite meals in Seattle — I’d come back just for the polenta and bread.
We recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at IL Nido, and it was an unforgettable evening from start to finish. We arrived about 30 minutes early, and the staff graciously seated us right away — such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the night.
To our surprise and delight, we were welcomed with complimentary glasses of champagne to mark the occasion — a beautiful touch that made us feel truly celebrated.
From the very first bite, the food was impeccable. The focaccia bread was warm, soft, and perfectly seasoned — the kind of bread you can’t stop reaching for. The Fazzoletto was delicate and flavorful, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to refined Italian cuisine. The Tagliatelle a Nido was a standout — rich, silky pasta layered with depth and comfort in every bite. For the main course, the 9oz Saratoga Cut Rib Eye was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
We ended the night with the Tiramisu, which was the perfect finale — light yet indulgent, and beautifully presented.
What really made the experience exceptional was the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. Every detail — from the champagne welcome to the pacing of each course — reflected genuine care and professionalism.
IL Nido is the kind of place that makes any occasion feel extraordinary. Elegant, intimate, and deeply satisfying — a perfect spot for a milestone celebration. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to toast to 25 years together.
The service was also impeccable. We had various food allergies at our table and each was accommodated with their own unique dishes that were in line with their needs.
The owner was attentive and friendly as was all the staff. Their presence was much appreciated and when asked all of them recommended drinks that delighted everyone!
I'd recommend Il Nido for a tasty night out or a private event without any hesitation.
