The choreography of arrival at Limantour Lodge unfolds with an almost serene elegance. As we stepped out of our vehicle, the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant whisper of waves greeted us, framing the lodge’s charming wooden façade against the backdrop of a sweeping landscape. The lobby welcomed us with a warm, inviting glow, accented by the soft light filtering through expansive windows that offered views of the surrounding natural beauty. The staff, attired in earth-toned attire that harmonized with the lodge’s rustic aesthetic, moved with a purposeful calm, effortlessly guiding guests through a seamless check-in process. Inside, the ambiance shifted from the vibrant energy of the outdoors to a comforting cocoon. The design language of Limantour Lodge strikes a balance between simplicity and warmth, with exposed wooden beams and a crackling fireplace that beckoned us to linger. We found ourselves drawn to the communal spaces, where a well-stocked kitchen awaited guests eager to prepare meals with ingredients sourced from local markets. The common areas exuded a sense of camaraderie, resonating with laughter and the clinking of dishes as guests shared stories of their day’s adventures on nearby trails. Our private room enveloped us in tranquility, tastefully decorated to reflect the natural surroundings. A plush queen bed, draped in soft linens, invited restful slumber after a day spent exploring the rugged coastline. The window offered a captivating view, framing the changing light of dusk as it painted the sky in hues of orange and pink. We appreciated the thoughtful amenities, from plush towels and eco-friendly toiletries to a small desk that provided a cozy nook for planning our next day’s excursion. The bathroom felt bright and airy, with well-placed mirrors reflecting the gentle glow of the morning light. As the sun began to set, the lodge’s social heart came alive. Guests gathered in the lobby bar, a delightful space where the scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the scent of pine from the surrounding forest. It was the perfect time to savor a local wine while exchanging tales of hiking routes and wildlife sightings, each story punctuated by the soft crackle of the fireplace. For those seeking to explore the natural wonders of the Point Reyes National Seashore, Limantour Lodge serves as a remarkable base. Our concierge recommends reserving a room on the upper floor for the quietest experience, allowing you to soak in the serene sounds of nature as you drift off to sleep. Take advantage of the early morning hours to enjoy your coffee on the porch, where the mist hangs low over the landscape, creating a magical start to your day.

Staff were sweet and helpful when on site. Binoculars and telescope are both available for guest use on site.
Community kitchen is well stocked and gorgeous. The rooms and buildings are gorgeous. This is a hidden gem in a world of overly monetized and content driven social media marketing. I hope this lodge may only reveal itself to people who can value what it has to offer.
Edit: I forgot to mention the wonderful guests that we met during our stay! Due to the community style living, we met a very kind couple who were there to hike and play cribbage, and a fisheries biologist from Alaska. Just overall a very good place to lay your head.
The lodge is super cozy and tucked into nature, with bunks, private rooms, a shared kitchen, and comfortable common areas. Mornings were misty and peaceful, with beautiful forest hikes nearby, sunlight filtering through the trees, and even a chance to spot tule elk. There’s also a beach within walking distance/short drive.
The drive in through the forest is gorgeous, and it’s a really nice contrast to the wide open plains and coastline Point Reyes is known for. Highly recommend staying here, especially on a weekday when it’s quieter. I’d definitely stay again.
I booked a private queen room with shared bath and it was clean, adequately spacious and cosy. Towels were provided and the bathrooms and showers were clean too. Wifi is also available throughout the lodge.
Will be back again soon!
