Profile
On a vibrant Sunday evening in Oakland, we found ourselves drawn to the allure of Pomet, a culinary haven bursting with creativity and warmth. The moment we arrived, we were enveloped by an inviting ambience that welcomed us like an old friend. The host stand, adorned with lush greenery, exuded a casual elegance, and as we were led to our table outdoors, the soft glow of string lights overhead cast a magical aura against the deepening twilight. The atmosphere was lively yet intimate, as the gentle hum of conversation intermingled with the occasional clink of glasses, creating an inviting soundscape that encouraged lingering. The scent of freshly baked Hokkaido milk bread rolls wafted through the air, instantly stirring our appetites.
Our attentive server greeted us with a genuine smile, clearly well-versed in the menu’s nuances, suggesting dishes that would highlight the kitchen’s commitment to locally-sourced ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The culinary philosophy here shines brightly through each meticulously crafted dish. We couldn’t resist starting with the celebrated Korean fried duck leg, its crispy exterior yielding to succulent meat that danced harmoniously with a fennel salad. The dish was a testament to the chef’s deft hand, as he artfully balanced rich flavors with refreshing notes. The turnip tots, recommended by a fellow diner, proved to be an unexpected delight—crispy bites that offered a playful twist on comfort food. As we settled into the evening, the pacing of our courses felt just right.
Each dish arrived with an air of anticipation, the staff impeccably timing their service to allow for moments of conversation and appreciation. A highlight was the mushroom pasta, a dish that showcased an earthy depth, punctuated by the bright acidity of seasonal vegetables. The wine selection mirrored the menu’s philosophy, with local options that perfectly complemented our meal and enhanced the overall experience. Amid the culinary artistry, we also appreciated the personal touch—the chef himself, taking a moment to greet guests, adding a layer of connection to the evening. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the outdoor space, we found ourselves reluctant to leave, savoring the last bites amidst soft laughter and the friendly buzz of fellow diners. Our concierge recommends making a reservation for a table under the twinkling lights, ideally timed to catch the transition from a golden sunset to a starry night—an experience enhanced by the outdoor seating and seasonal menu rotations.

The turnip tots was my favorite dish! Must try before they change the menu; they mentioned that they change it frequently! I'll definitely be back again.
Must order: Hokkaido milk bread rolls & Korean fried duck leg⭐️
The duck breast was very thick, juicy, and paired really well with the fennel salad on the side.
“the meal ends with a complimentary slice of whatever seasonal fruit is currently at its peak”
We got slices of Shin Li Asian pear, which was the perfect way to close out the meal.
