Profile
A gentle symphony of sizzling pans and the soft chatter of delighted diners greeted us as we crossed the threshold into Juanita & Maude, a culinary haven in Albany. The inviting warmth of the space enveloped us, illuminated by the warm glow of hanging bulbs that offered an intimate ambiance. The scent of grilled meats mingled with fresh herbs, a tantalizing prelude to the feast that awaited. Upon arrival, the hospitable host greeted us with genuine warmth, guiding us to a cozy table that afforded a view of the bustling kitchen. The décor exudes a rustic charm—exposed brick walls adorned with local artwork, complemented by wooden accents that evoke the feel of a charming neighborhood gathering spot. The acoustics are just right: the clinking of glasses harmonizes with laughter, creating an atmosphere that is both energetic and relaxed, ideal for a casual dinner or a special celebration.
As the evening progressed, we found ourselves captivated by the rhythm of service, which was swift yet unhurried, allowing us to savor each moment. Our attentive server, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the menu, recommended the anisette-compressed watermelon and feta salad, a vibrant dish that danced on the palate with its refreshing sweetness and creamy texture. The presentation was as delightful as the flavors, showcasing a commitment to artistry that is evident throughout the menu. The star of the evening, however, was undeniably the Maude Burger. Juicy and perfectly seasoned, it arrived on a freshly baked bun, accompanied by crispy fries that seemed to beckon for a dip in the house-made aioli.
Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes, a testament to the kitchen’s philosophy of embracing simplicity while delivering depth. As the night deepened, we were drawn to the dessert offerings, where the house-made ice creams stood out—each bite rich and velvety, a fitting conclusion to a meal marked by thoughtful culinary execution. The cocktail program, too, deserves mention; the signature drinks are expertly crafted, balancing innovative flavors with classic techniques, making for a delightful pairing with every course. Our evening at Juanita & Maude was a celebration of community and culinary craftsmanship, a place where the love of food is palpable. The infectious energy of the staff and the joy radiating from fellow diners made each moment feel special, encouraging us to linger just a little longer. Our concierge recommends reserving one of the corner tables for a more intimate dining experience, especially during the lively dinner hours when the ambiance is at its peak.

Go here. Go again!
The Tuna Tartare was my favorite item of the night. It had so much flavor within the first bite.
The Maude Burger was really good.
The Short Rib and Rib plate was ridiculously good. Both meats were cooked perfectly. The sauce on the ribs is pretty spicy, but if you're not into that, I'd have them put it on the side.
We also ordered the bread, and that was good too. I really have no complaints with this little gem. I'm definitely putting this place in my husband's budget and we will be visiting soon.
The staff that interacted with us was also nice .
Reservations is recommended.
Everyone who works here is super kind and we have not had a bad experience at all
Take a look at some of the pictures I posted for the latest menu and what we got. The highlight for me was the duck confit and banana flan. Oh I can’t forget the steak and fruits perfectly cooked. The gnocchi with mushrooms was also very memorable. Let’s be real. I pretty much liked everything I ate.
Drinks I tried something that was supposed to remind you of nacho cheese. It was interesting for sure. Probably not the drink I would go for, but you do actually get reminders of sitting at a ballpark eating nacho cheese. Try it if you’re feeling adventurous.
Def will be back
