As the sun begins its descent, painting the sky in hues of amber and rose, the bar at Greydon House transforms into a vibrant focal point that draws both locals and travelers alike. The mixologist’s deft hands craft cocktails that are as much an experience as they are a refreshment, each sip echoing the island’s maritime heritage. A standout is the “Nantucket Mule,” with its effervescent ginger beer and a hint of freshly squeezed lime, served in a chilled copper cup that glimmers under the soft glow of antique sconces. Our team immediately appreciated the seamless transition from bar to dining space, where the atmosphere shifts to one of intimate sophistication. The dining room, adorned with eclectic art pieces and deep mahogany accents, resonates with a cozy elegance. Each table is set with artisanal ceramics that reflect the coastal aesthetic, while the gentle hum of conversation mingles with the clinking of silverware, creating an inviting soundtrack to our culinary journey. Dinner is a celebration of local flavors, artfully crafted by a team that has a deep respect for the island’s bounty. We savored a dish of seared scallops, their golden crust yielding to a tender, buttery interior, accompanied by a vibrant corn puree that bursts with summer sweetness. As we dined, the fragrance of herbs from the nearby gardens danced through the air, a reminder of the farm-to-table philosophy that defines the Greydon House kitchen. A subtle but memorable detail was the attentive service that never felt intrusive. Our server, a wellspring of knowledge about each dish and drink, effortlessly guided us through the menu, ensuring our experience felt personalized and tailored. It was in these small interactions—like a warm smile or a perfectly timed check-in—that we truly felt the essence of hospitality. As we concluded our meal, the ambiance shifted beautifully from the lively energy of dinner to a softer, more reflective evening. Guests gathered at the bar, laughter mingling with the gentle crackle of the fireplace, creating a cozy retreat. We found ourselves drawn to the dessert menu, where the chocolate tart, rich and indulgent, was paired with a delicate raspberry coulis that provided a perfect counterbalance, delighting our senses yet again. In the heart of Nantucket, Greydon House stands not just as a culinary destination but as a vibrant social hub that captures the essence of the island. Our concierge recommends making a reservation for the bar’s early evening happy hour, when the atmosphere is particularly vibrant, and the mixologist is eager to share seasonal cocktail creations that reflect the island’s spirit.

Our recent stay at Greydon House was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, I was struck by the charming ambiance of the hotel. With an artisan’s eye, one would notice the impressive quality of the tile work, woodworking, and decor throughout the property, which added to the overall aesthetic appeal.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights during our stay. The hospitality we received from front desk staff, particularly Stephanie, and manager John was outstanding. They were not only reactive to assist with any issues—albeit minor—but also went above and beyond by recommending nearby restaurants and activities, even ensuring our reservations were taken care of.
The location of Greydon House is perfect for exploring Nantucket, making it an ideal choice for travelers. I highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a memorable experience in Nantucket.
From the moment we checked in, we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff and a personable, attentive manager who set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable stay. The location couldn’t be more convenient: a three-minute walk to one of the best lobster rolls you’ll ever have at Walter’s, a charming coffee and pastry shop directly across the street, and the Whaling Museum just steps away.
Given the unbeatable location, we weren’t expecting much from the room itself—but we were genuinely impressed. Our room was cozy and well-appointed, with high-end toiletries, beautiful shower tile, and an exceptionally comfortable bed. Harney & Sons tea and quality coffee were available all day, which was a much-appreciated touch.
One of the highlights of our stay was Via Mare, the on-site restaurant. Although we enjoyed every meal during our visit to Nantucket, this restaurant stood out. The oysters were among the best I’ve ever had, and the cocktails were both creative and delicious.
Despite the cool weather, we found ourselves drawn again and again to the charming side porch. Whether we were reading, chatting, watching the Memorial Day parade, or enjoying takeout meals, it became a favorite spot throughout our stay.
Greydon House offers a rare combination of location, charm, and service—and we’ll absolutely be returning.
